PRESIDENT The President is the chief executive officer of the chapter. The President shall be responsible for guiding the direction of the organization and encouraging the generation of ideas for meetings and activities. (The President must have served as an officer in the previous term)
VICE-PRESIDENT, INTERNAL The Internal Vice-President is responsible for overseeing the internal affairs of the club. The Internal Vice-President’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) membership development, (2) mentorship programming, (3) internal events organization, (4) engagement with other engineering student organizations, (5) overlook and mentor board members who hold positions relating to internal affairs (such as social chair, freshman representative(s), etc.
VICE-PRESIDENT, EXTERNAL The External Vice-President is responsible for overseeing the external affairs of the club. The External Vice-President’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) company recruitment, (2) professional development, (3) professional workshops and events planning, (4) job/internship search assistance, (5) overlook and mentor board members who hold positions relating to external affairs (such as industry relations chair(s))
TREASURER The Treasurer is responsible for financial management of the club. The Treasurer’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) maintenance of financial records (expense record, bank statements, receipts, reimbursements), (2) collecting membership dues, (3) fundraising, (4) drafting sponsorship letters.
INDUSTRY RELATIONS CHAIR The Industry Relations Chair is responsible for updating and maintaining a list of nearby companies that frequently employ chemical engineers. The Industry Relations Chair’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) planning industry showcases and career fairs, (2) working closely with career center, (3) informing club of campus resources available, (4) working closely as a team under the Vice President External.
SOCIAL CHAIR The Social Chair is responsible for organizing all social events for the chapter. The Social Chair’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) organizing social events, (2) carpool arrangements, (3) planning activities and icebreakers, (4) work with department faculty and staff in planning AIChE Senior Send-off.
PUBLICITY CHAIR The Publicity Chair is responsible for publicizing all chapter events through social media platforms, posters, flyers, class announcements, etc. The Publicity Chair’s responsibilities are (but not limited to): (1) managing Facebook groups of chemical engineering graduating classes, (2) publicizing AIChE to engineering student body, (3) drafting chapter email announcements and reminders.
HISTORIAN The Historian is responsible for documenting all club activities and events through photo and media, and organizing photos on the website. The Historian’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) taking photos and videos at AIChE events and meetings, (2) working with Webmaster in marketing past and future events on website, (3) design poster boards for fundraising and games, (4) maintaining documentation of previous and present AIChE members.
SECRETARY The Secretary is responsible for keeping electronic records of all meetings, sign-ins and club activities. The Secretary’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) preserving all documents relating to chapter affairs, (2) submitting all reports requested by University, Student Involvement, Chapter Adviser and parent body (American Institute of Chemical Engineers), (3) managing attendance, active membership and meeting minutes.
WEBMASTER The Webmaster is responsible for maintaining and formatting the club website design, layout, and information. The Webmaster’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) frequently updating website with current information, (2) marketing club activities through photo gallery, (3) designing a creative and professional webpage for club.
COMMUNITY SERVICE CHAIR The Community Service Chair is responsible for seeking out and organizing monthly community service opportunities for AIChE members and working closely with the other board members to create two outreach events with local community colleges and K-12 schools. The Community Service Chair’s responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) Contact volunteer coordinators at organizations in the Orange County area and request information pertaining to group volunteer events, (2) Create and submit a list of 5-6 possible community service events to the board at the start of every quarter, (3) Once the community service events are decided on, the Community Service Chair will plan the event, (4) Work closely with the Publicity Chair to advertise the event to members and create campus awareness for the event. (5) Work closely with board members to create two outreach events for the academic year; One at a local k-12 and another at a community college.
CHEM-E-CAR MANAGER(S) **APPOINTED** The Chem-E-Car Manager(s) are responsible for continuing the Chem-E-Car program and actively engaging members to assist in the research program. The Chem-E-Car Manager(s)’ responsibilities are (but are not limited to): (1) completing all related task in order for UC Irvine’s chapter to compete in the AIChE Western Regional Conference during Spring Quarter of the school year, (2) work closely with the CBEMS Undergraduate Affairs Office to maintain lab space for the Chem-E-Car program, (3) set up lab times for AIChE members to participate in the program, (4) ensure the safety of all members when lab is in session.
TRANSFER/FRESHMEN REPRESENTATIVE The Transfer and Freshmen Representatives serve as the bridge for transfers and/or freshmen who are new to AIChE and UCI. As board members, they will relay AIChE club information to their respective peers. The representatives will also work closely with the External and Internal Vice Presidents to aid them with their various tasks, such as: (1) the AIChE Bonds program, (2) helping with presentations for general meetings. These positions will be a good opportunity to be more involved in the AIChE club and learn more about what goes on behind-the-scenes. For our Freshmen Representative specifically, we strongly encourage him or her to be involved with Leaders in Freshmen Engineering (LIFE). They are also welcome to "shadow" another board position to see how their job is done.
